Nottingham Forest are one of several clubs keen to sign Spezia goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski during the summer transfer window. The stopper has a release clause of £9 million interested in his contract and several clubs are keen.

The Polish custodian is set to leave the Serie A outfit during the summer transfer window, with the Daily Mail citing vast interest from England. Forest, Bournemouth and Southampton are all in the mix to try and sign him.

Dragowski only signed for Spezia last summer. He joined from Fiorentina and has quickly established himself as the club’s number-one goalkeeper, making 35 appearances during 2022/23.

Yesterday saw disaster for Spezia. They were relegated from the top flight of Italian football after a 3-1 defeat to Verona and now several of their top starts will be departing the club; including their £26,000-a-week goalkeeper.

One of those is the Polish goalkeeper and Forest could make a move to try and sign him. The Reds do have Dean Henderson earmarked as the primary target but it would appear that contingency plans are being looked at.

Forest have Wayne Hennessey at the club as another option. However, it would seem pointless in bringing in another goalkeeper alongside Henderson should he sign, with the Wales stopper more than adequate as a backup.

Forest keen to sign Dragowski this summer

The player might be a pretty decent fall-back option should a move to sign Henderson go south this summer. Forest don’t envisage any problems on that front but they’re right to prepare anyway.

Dragowski is on the back of a difficult season with Spezia. Nobody saw relegation coming and he will be bitterly disappointed to keep just seven clean sheets from his 35 appearances.

Still, at 25-years-old, he has bags of time on his side and he should be capable of getting this season out of his system. At £9 million he represents a bit of a steal and if Forest can’t get Henderson, Dragowski would be ideal.

Rumour rating: 5/10 – This wouldn’t be a bad signing but in truth, we just don’t see it coming to fruition. Forest are expected to complete the signing of Henderson this summer and that will likely see Dragowski go elsewhere.
