The 28-year-old is expected to depart Nottingham Forest in the coming days.
Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath could be on his way out in the near future. The Reds goalkeeper has started the first five games of the 2023/24 season on the bench.

Horvath’s time at Forest may be up, according to The Athletic. Odysseas Vlachodimos, who arrived from Benfica on transfer deadline day, will push him down the pecking order.

Horvath was the club’s first summer acquisition for the 2021/22 season. He was brought in to give competition for Brice Samba and has made 11 appearances for the club.

Horvath left Forest on loan to join Luton Town last season. After keeping 20 clean sheets and assisting the club in gaining promotion to the Premier League, it was surprising that he was not signed on a permanent basis.

The player, who is 28 years old, will be looking for regular football this season. He’ll want to push Matt Turner for a spot on the international team, which he won’t be able to accomplish as a third-choice goalkeeper.

Several transfer periods remain open around the world. As a result, Horvath will be hoping to secure a transfer away from Forest in the coming days.

During his stint at the club, Chris Hughton showered accolades on Horvath. Following a Carabao Cup defeat to Wolves, he described the player as ‘outstanding’ after making several solid saves.

Horvath is planning to depart Forest.
It would be fantastic if Forest could connect Horvath with anything long-term. Turner and Vlachodimos are both 29, thus they might be the two goalkeepers for quite some time.

Horvath simply needs game time right now. He needs to play, and after playing consistently for Luton Town in 2022/23, it will be a culture shock not to be a first-team regular this season.

The Reds have done well to get a number of players out on loan or permanently this summer. They must now assist Horvath in finding a club to join, even if just on a loan basis until January.
