Carlo Ancelotti sends message to Everton fans after joining Real Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti has sent a message to the Everton supporters after deciding to leave the club for Real Madrid.
Ancelotti will go back to his former club, where he won the 2014 Champions League to replace Zinedine Zidane.
That leaves Everton looking around for a new manager. If they want to do it before the European Championship starts, there are only nine days left.
Ancelotti has expressed his gratitude about getting the chance to manage Everton but said Madrid is ‘always in (his) heart’.
Who Everton go for after this remains to be seen.
A number of names are already in the frame and now a thorough recruitment process needs to take place.
Ancelotti leaving is a real blow for the club and removes perhaps the biggest reason for optimism around Goodison Park.
The club would have hoped he could send them into a new era at the new ground, as an established, regular European qualifier.
Now that job will fall to someone else as Everton fans move on from the loss of a manager they’d taken to their hearts.
