Lee Brown sends a heartfelt message to Bristol Rovers fans after the final match for the club

The defender signed off with a classy message

Lee Brown has taken to social media to thank Bristol Rovers fans and wish the club well for the future following his final appearance for the Gas.

Brown’s seven-year stay in BS7 came to an end on Saturday afternoon as he bowed out after more than 300 appearances for Rovers.

While the result – a 1-1 draw against Gillingham – wasn’t how he wanted to sign off, the ovation after the match was a sight to behold.

Brown, along with his children, took his own lap of honour and was greeted with applause and cheering from all corners of the ground.

Writing on Twitter, the defender said: “So the day has finally come. What a day yesterday was, I couldn’t ask for a better send off.

“It was extremely overwhelming for myself and my family. This football club will always be special to me, we have shared some incredible memories together.

“I can’t thank you all enough for the amazing support you’ve given me over the years. I have enjoyed every minute of my time here, and have made some amazing friends who I will genuinely miss so much.

“The togetherness of the squad’s over the last four years has been very special. These people are not work colleagues, they are genuine friends and I will miss them all dearly.

“The fans at this football club, what can I say? I have received tonnes and tonnes of messages of support, which I’m working my way through, and I appreciate them all.

“This club is built on a fantastic fan base who have taken to me like one of their own, and I can’t thank you enough for this. I have met so many of you over my time here and can’t thank you enough for your unbelievable support.

“I genuinely wish this football club and all the people behind the scenes, who I have such special connections with, all the very best for the future.

“Peace out.”
