‘Rarely wastes a pass’: Wolves told they’ve signed a real gem in ‘very technical’ 21-year-old

Dave Edwards is excited by the signing of Tommy Doyle at Wolves.

Wanderers brought the youngster in on loan from Manchester City on transfer deadline day.

Matheus Nunes sealed a move to City for £53 million.

And that situation reignited Wolves’ interest in Doyle from earlier in the window according to sporting director Matt Hobbs.

Wolves signed Doyle and it’s already expected he’ll sign permanently next summer for £4.3 million.

Doyle is a young player with great potential.

And former Molineux midfielder Edwards has hailed the move…

Dave Edwards feels Wolves have snapped up a top talent in Tommy Doyle

Currently at Wolves, there are a number of good ball-winners.

Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina are very tenacious, as is Boubacar Traore.

So it’s nice for Gary O’Neil to have a player like Doyle, who is a bit more technical than those players.

Edwards said (Express & Star): “Adding Tommy Doyle to that adds depth, competition and a different way of playing when you need to.

“He is still young and Manchester City think the world of him. He’s an all-round midfielder and from a possession point of view he is very good on the ball and very technical.

“He rarely wastes a pass and has a range of passing too. He will go long and try through-balls.”

Doyle is an exciting capture

Edwards is right to rave over the capture of Doyle.

Given the options O’Neil already had, it was important to get someone like him into the club.

Doyle has come from City, and you know that means he has some impressive technical attributes.

Wolves lost two technicians in Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho, so Doyle will be expected to try and channel the two Portuguese maestros.

He will now be absolutely raring to go in the Premier League, having already had a couple of loans spells in his career.
