Leicester City injury update: Dennis Praet and Conor Coady have been ruled out.
Leicester City have suffered a major injury blow, as midfielder Dennis Praet has been ruled out for three months with a back injury.
Praet has missed City’s last three games in all competitions after making his debut in their 1-0 away win over Huddersfield, and he is unlikely to return until late November due to a serious back injury.
It also rules out a late move for the Belgian, who only had a year left on his contract and would have been a candidate to leave had a late offer been made for him.
When asked about Praet’s health, manager Enzo Maresca said at a press conference on Friday afternoon, “It’s an important injury.” It’s most likely between 10 and 12 weeks. It’s his spine. He is the sole survivor.”
Praet is now one of three City players on the sidelines, along with Alex Smithies and Conor Coady, with no new issues for Maresca to deal with. Coady, on the other hand, should be back in training following the approaching international break.
The defender, who has yet to make his competitive debut for the club after injuring his foot in preseason, has been traveling with the squad home and away and was wearing a protective boot until recently. He’s still on track to be ready to play by the end of September.
“He’s pretty good,” Maresca said of Coady. “He’s very close; after the international break, he’ll probably be able to join us in the sessions and day by day.”
“To be honest, he’s been huge. He’s been with us practically every day and has attended every home and away game, so he’s demonstrated precisely who he is in terms of leadership and team building. He is constantly present. It’s amazing.”
