Leeds United international break injury list in full as players target Millwall returns
Daniel Farke’s should be in a much healthier spot come the end of the international break
Leeds United’s international break has arrived just in time, with Daniel Farke’s side allowed a two-week vacation to rest their ailing players. The interim break will also allow the Whites to integrate their new signings into the squad before they return to play against Millwall next weekend.
Farke was able to reintroduce Ian Poveda and Leo Hjelde to the matchday squad for the draw against Sheffield Wednesday, while Crysencio Summerville recovered from a knock against Salford City in the Carabao Cup to play against the Owls. In contrast to earlier in the season, Leeds currently have only six players out injured.
The late flurry of arrivals will also help boost Farke’s strength in depth, with Glen Kamara and Djed Spence making their debuts in last weekend’s Yorkshire derby.
Sam Byram missed that clash, but is expected to return in time to face the Lions. Despite speculation linking him with a move away from Elland Road, Junior Firpo remains at the club and is expected to return later this month.
Leeds Live has compiled a full list of those injured, what Farke has said and when they’re expected back below.
Sam Byram
What Farke has said: “No sadly, he has an adductor strain and he is out for the weekend. He will miss the game at the weekend. We hope that he’s back then on the other side of the International break. So the strain is not not too bad. But the tightness was something between two and three weeks. So for that definitely not available for the weekend. But hopefully then the other side.”
Expected return date: September 17
Daniel James
What Farke has said: “It’s a slightly improved situation from last week, but there are a few concerns over Daniel James as he has a few problems with his adductors which we hope are not too bad.”
Expected return date: Unknown
Liam Cooper
What Farke has said: “We have to wait for further assessment. So he rolled his ankle and we’re checking him right now. I hope it’s not too bad because we desperately need him but we have to wait to see what the scan says.”
Expected return date: Unknown
Patrick Bamford
What Farke has said: “Yes, so sadly we have had during the last seven days some injuries, Patrick Bamford has got a hamstring injury he won’t return before the first international break so you will miss definitely the next games.”
Expected return : September
Stuart Dallas
What Farke has said: “Yes with Stuart, like I mentioned, he’s on the long term rehab. We will still be unbelievably careful with him, he is still far away from being in team training. Again no pressure from our side.”
Junior Firpo
The full-back is still recovering from a knee ligament injury and hasn’t made an appearance since Farke took the reins at Elland Road earlier in the summer. The statement released by the club two weeks ago stated Firpo was four weeks away from a return, though.
Expected return : September
