Leicester City have offered their condolences to Marc Albrighton and his partner Chloe after her mother died during Friday’s terrorist attack in Tunisia.
The Premier League club released a statement on their website extending their sympathy in the wake of the tragedy.
“Leicester City Football Club offers its sincerest condolences to Marc Albrighton, his partner Chloe and their family, after learning of the deaths of Chloe’s mother, Sue, and her partner, Scott, during Friday’s attacks in Tunisia. They are all in our thoughts and prayers.
“We continue to offer our support to Marc and Chloe’s family at this time of great personal tragedy.”
Walsall also reacted to the news that three Saddlers fans from the same family were killed in the gun attack.
The League One club changed the main image on its social media accounts to a photograph of Patrick Evans, Adrian Evans and Joel Richards outside Wembley Stadium.
The West Midlands club said the image – taken before Walsall’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final appearance three months ago – also showed 16-year-old Owen Richards, who survived the shootings in Sousse.
According to reports Owen was grazed on the shoulder by a bullet. His uncle was reportedly shot in the side of the head, possibly by the same bullet. Owen reportedly went to the assistance of a wounded woman later despite his own injury.
In a statement on its Facebook page, Walsall said it intended to run the image on its social media platforms for a week as a mark of respect to Patrick Evans, believed to be aged 78, his son Adrian, and his 19-year-old grandson Joel.
“Walsall FC are devastated to hear that Saddlers fans lost their lives in the Tunisia Terror Attacks,” said the statement.
“Our thoughts are with the family of Patrick Evans, Adrian Evans and Joel Richards. Supporters have requested to lay scarves outside Main Reception from 9.00am on Monday and the club are happy to facilitate.
“The club offer its full support to the families at this tragic time. However, out of respect to Patrick, Adrian and Joel, and their families, the club do not feel it is appropriate to make any further comment at this time whilst family and friends are coming to terms with their tragic loss.
“As a mark of respect, the below image will be used on our social media sites until next Friday. The image shows (l-r) 16 year old survivor, Owen Richards, Adrian Evans, Patrick Evans and Joel Richards.”
