£6m Everton man sends classy 22-word message to Bristol Rovers after loan exit

One of Bristol Rovers loan stars has sent a classy goodbye after a successful spell at the Memorial Stadium.

Lewis Gibson’s time at Bristol Rovers has come to an end after his loan from Everton expired following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.

Gibson joined on a season-long loan deal and reunited with Joey Barton after working with him at Fleetwood Town. He was a popular figure during his time at the Memorial Stadium, and on several occasions was given the honor of being the captain in various matches.

The 22-year-old made 33 appearances across all competitions, and scored his first professional goal in the 2-1 win against his former club Fleetwood in April. His 33 matches for Rovers was the most he has accumulated over a campaign, amid injury problems at clubs like Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

Gibson featured in Rovers’ 3-2 defeat to Bolton Wanderers, in what was the last game of the campaign. The former Newcastle United man has since taken to social media to thank supporters for giving them such a homely welcome, and has summed up in 22-words his feelings during his time at the Mem.
