Everton has officially confirmed the signing of Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon, with the fee reportedly in the region of £15m.

Sean Dyche has been looking to bring in a striker for some time and he hopes the 19-year-old can help the Toffees improve their goal-scoring form.

Everton netted just 34 goals in the Premier League last term, which was the key reason why they came close to being relegated. Now, they are keen to bring in more attackers after securing Chermiti’s signature.

Chermiti has penned a four-year contract. He will wear the number 28 shirt. He gave his reaction to the move in an interview with the official Everton website.

“It’s a big move for me. Joining Everton is a new beginning, a new page and I’m very happy to be here. It is a beautiful city and a beautiful club,” Chermiti said.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the fans, my new teammates and to get to work with the coach. I want to embrace everything about the Club. I hope the fans will like me and I want to show them what I am capable of.

“Everton is a big club. A lot of legends have played here. I couldn’t turn down this opportunity.”

Everton ‘in talks’ to sign Leeds United winger

Now that Everton have got a deal for Chermiti done, they have two players on their radar as they look to add more depth to their attack.

The first is Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto. As reported by TEAMtalk, Everton are now ‘in negotiations with Leeds’ over signing the 19-year-old. 

Gnonto allegedly ‘wants’ to make the switch to Goodison Park this summer, after the Toffees have worked on signing him for a number of months.

He scored two goals and made four assists in 24 Premier League appearances last season. Gnonto’s performances have also eared him a spot in the Italy national team, with 12 caps so far, so there is certainly no doubting his quality.

Reports suggest the next few days are ‘crucial’ in terms of Everton getting a deal done for the winger, so it will be interesting to see if they can agree a transfer fee with Leeds.

Everton ‘agree fee’ for PSG star

Everton are also trying to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike. According to journalist Rudy Galetti, talks with PSG are ‘progressing.’

On Twitter, he wrote: “Everton are pushing hard for Ekitike: talks with PSG are progressing at a good pace.

“Understand the club is speeding things up to anticipate the competition of Eintracht and other teams interested in the striker.

“Hugo hasn’t made a decision on his future yet.”

PSG paid £31m for Ekitike last summer and will only sell him if they receive at least that fee this summer.

As noted by Galetti, several European clubs are pushing to sign the striker but Everton are believed to be at the front of the queue.

Ekitike was sensational at his former club Reims before moving to PSG. The 21-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best up and coming youngsters in France but his move to the Parc des Princes hasn’t gone as expected.

A switch to Everton could therefore help the youngster reignite his career. Whether or not he will agree personal terms with the Merseyside club remains to be seen, but an agreement on a transfer fee with PSG seems to be moving in the right direction.
