Bristol Rovers defender Jack Hunt has insisted he wants to help to improve those around him during his stay at the Mem.

Last season, Hunt featured 18 times for Sheffield Wednesday in the league and helped them earn promotion to the Championship.

Joey Barton was keen on adding experience and depth to Bristol Rovers’ defence and signed the right-back on a free transfer this summer.

Hunt declared that his goal is to earn promotion with Bristol Rovers and he sees no reason to believe that they cannot challenge.

The Gas’ new boy also stated that he did not join Bristol Rovers to become just an employee and he is keen to help to shape those around him at the Mem.

“I’d like to achieve, personally and for the football club, promotion”, Hunt told Bristol Live.

“I think you can set your sights high on that, definitely.

“Also progression for the football club and I’m not just here to come in and just be an employee.

“I’d like to leave a stamp on helping other people and being successful in a football club.

“There’s got to be a progression to that [league position].

“There’s no reason without being ambitious this season saying we can’t go and win the league.

“But you’ve also got to be realistic in steps of progression in football and hopefully we can climb up the league and challenge for promotion.”

Bristol Rovers are currently 18th in the league and Hunt will be determined to help Barton’s side climb up the table.

Bristol Rovers’ trip to Reading in November has been rearranged for a second time after it was announced that the fixture will now be played six days later.

The original date for Rovers’ trip to Berkshire was last Saturday (September 9) but the match was postponed due to too many international call-ups within the Royals’ squad. EFL clubs are allowed to request for a fixture to be rearranged should three or more of their players be selected for international duty with Leagues One and Two not having a set international break.

On Monday (September 11), both clubs announced that the match had been rearranged for November 1 with kick-off set for 8pm. However, yesterday evening there was a further change of date despite tickets for the match going back on sale in the morning.

Rovers will now made the relatively short trip six days later, with the game now set to take place on Tuesday November 7 with an 8pm kick-off.

At the point of the match being originally postponed, the Gas had sold at least 1,470 away tickets with the current figure unclear amid supporters having schedule changes etc.

Having the date changed for a second time after just one day sparked frustrations amongst Gasheads on social media however, it was out of Rovers’ control with the reason being that a significant event in the Thames Valley is set to take place on November 1.

On their website, the club wrote: “As part of the planning Reading FC undertake for all scheduled matches, Reading FC have been working closely with partners locally and in Reading to ensure all fans can safely enjoy the match. Due to a significant event taking place in the Thames Valley area on the same day, the decision has been made to postpone the match until 7 November.”

The club added that all previously purchased tickets remain valid with unsold tickets now back on general sale. Those who are unable to make the new date can contact tickets@bristolrovers.co.uk to arrange a refund.

Rovers’ 156 mile round-trip is now set to take place three days after they and Reading are expected to play their FA Cup first round ties with their opponents set to be drawn next month after the final qualifying round which is scheduled to take place on the weekend of October 14. All those associated with both clubs will have their fingers crossed that both ties aren’t selected for TV coverage and thus potentially moved later as that would most likely force a third date change.
