Wolves have agreed to terms with a slick Brazilian international who has been courted by Barcelona, Arsenal, and Chelsea.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are expected to acquire Brazilian international midfielder Raphael Veiga from Palmeiras in January, according to reports.

Veiga is a Brazilian offensive midfielder who joined Palmeiras from Coritiba in December 2016. The 28-year-old has three caps for the Brazilian national team, all of which have come this year.

The talented left-footed player has been connected with a number of European teams, including Barcelona, Arsenal, and Chelsea. Barcelona were exploring a move for Veiga during the summer transfer window, according to Sport.

In March, Goal reported that Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolves, and Fulham had all inquired about the Brazilian’s availability, before disclosing that Palmeiras turned down interest in the 28-year-old in the summer because they did not want to trade him.

However, the Premier League appears to be Veiga’s most likely destination, with Wolves remaining interested.

Brazilian broadcaster Neto, who played for Palmeiras and Corinthians, predicts that the offensive midfielder will join Wolves in January.

“Raphael Veiga will say goodbye to Palmeiras next year,” Neto told O TV Foco. He’s moving to Wolverhampton, and the deal will be finalized next year. Palmeiras can criticize me at any time if this does not happen.

“Palmeiras is also interested in Pedrinho, a current Atlético-MG midfielder, to replace Veiga.” As a result, the situation is as follows: Palmeiras is poised to sign Pedrinho for €15 million, with an additional €10 million offered for Kevin. As a result, Veiga will travel to England at the end of the year.”

Wolves should have finances available when the summer transfer window closes.
Given the funds raised from player sales during the summer transfer window, Wolves seem to be in a great position to sign Veiga in January. During the transfer window, the West Midlands club had the third lowest net expenditure in the Premier League, producing a €40.96m profit.

Ruben Neves, Matheus Nunes, Nathan Collins, Raul Jimenez, and former captain Conor Coady were among the first-team players sold by the Wanderers. The most high-profile departures were Neves and Nunes, the midfield combo transferring to Al Hilal and Manchester City for a reported £100 each.

Wolves’ lone significant summer acquisition was Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Atletico Madrid for a reputed £43 million. Last season, the 24-year-old was on loan from a La Liga club.

Along with Cunha, Veiga will join 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes at Molineux.

Wolves are now 15th in the Premier League with three points following a difficult start to the 2023/24 season. They have lost three of their four games, including a 3-2 defeat against Crystal Palace before to the international break.
