Conor Gallagher is expected to join Tottenham in January.
Alan Hutton, a former defender turned commentator, believes Tottenham Hotspur should recruit Chelsea striker Conor Gallagher in January to strengthen their engine room.
Spurs were extensively linked with a summer move for the England international, and they allegedly submitted a £40 million bid on deadline day to clinch his signing. However, the Blues turned down the offer and were able to maintain their top player.
However, according to Football Insider, after failing to sign Gallagher this summer, Tottenham have not given up on getting him and might make a January bid for his signature.
According to the source, Chelsea may decide to cash in on the 23-year-old if possible suitors like as Tottenham submit an offer of approximately £45 million. As a result, the Lilywhites will have to spend a lot of money to have his services during the winter window.
Meanwhile, Hutton told Football Insider that Gallagher may be open to leaving Stamford Bridge if he fails to obtain regular game time once all of Chelsea’s midfielders become available.

The analyst goes on to say that the Englishman is a ‘great’ player who would be a wise acquisition for whoever manages to get him. Hutton also believes that signing Gallagher would be a tremendous coup for Spurs.
Hutton stated:
“We’ll have to wait and see how much time he gets at Chelsea.” We’re looking at a really healthy and vast team when everyone is fit, so it all depends on how Pochettino sees and utilizes him.
“Does he see him as a regular starter? Or is he more of a squad player? If that is the case then come January he may be looking to get out and play football. I think whoever gets him is getting a fantastic footballer at a very good age. He will cost a few quid but I think if Tottenham could get him he makes their squad better.“
Gallagher is a highly talented player and would certainly reinforce Tottenham’s midfield department if they manage to acquire his service. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether they eventually opt to make a concrete approach in the upcoming transfer window.
