Lucas Paqueta is a target for Newcastle United.

Newcastle United will like to bolster their midfield by signing Lucas Paqueta when the transfer market opens in January.
Newcastle United are interested in Lucas Paqueta ahead of the January transfer window, according to Fichajes. If the Magpies advance in the Champions League, they may want to sign the 25-year-old Brazilian international in order to reconnect him with former colleague Bruno Guimaraes.

Lucas Paqueta, although just joining West Ham United a year ago, may not be around for long. Many teams were interested in signing the 25-year-old Brazilian international before deciding to join the Hammers, which surprised some observers.

In his debut season under David Moyes, he made an impression and helped West Ham win the Europa Conference League. However, Manchester City expressed strong interest in the 25-year-old Brazilian international late in the summer transfer season.

Pep Guardiola needed a midfielder and turned to Paqueta after failing to sign his teammate Declan Rice. Man City finally signed Matheus Nunes from Wolves, although there were lots of squabbles with the Brazilian before they went with the Portuguese.
Manchester City dropped their interest in Paqueta after he became the target of a betting accusation. While those allegations are still being debated, the citizens of the city did not want to be involved.

According to reports, they may return in January, assuming a ruling on the betting allegations. If they do, Manchester City might face competition from Newcastle United for the 25-year-old Brazilian international, as Eddie Howe looks for midfield reinforcements.

After a 20-year wait, Newcastle United has qualified for the Champions League. Despite being placed in the most difficult group conceivable, the Magpies have the talent to go to the knockout stages. Keeping that in mind, Howe desires midfield reinforcements, including the Brazilian.Lucas Paqueta signs for West Ham from Lyon in club-record £51m deal | Transfer Centre News | Sky Sports

A move for Paqueta might be difficult for Newcastle United, as West Ham may be unwilling to trade their star midway through the season. The Hammers, who have begun the season well, will have ambitious goals to finish in the top six, and Newcastle are their main competitors based on their present form.

As a result, any move for Paqueta to Newcastle will be at the mercy of the Hammers, who have proven to be tough negotiators since the summer window closed. While the Magpies may be able to entice the 25-year-old Brazilian international to rejoin with former Lyon colleague and compatriot Bruno Guimaraes, the Hammers retain control of the situation.
