Tottenham injury news ahead of Premier League clash with Liverpool amid Son Heung-min worry

Antonio Conte has a few injury concerns to contend with ahead of the clash with Liverpool on Sunday

Tottenham Hotspur go to Liverpool in the Premier League on the strength of a resounding Champions League victory in midweek. Spurs progressed for the Round of 16 as Group D champions courtesy to an injury-time winner from Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Tottenham had fallen behind as Chancel Mbemba Mangulu scored on the stroke of halftime. In the 54th minute, Clement Lenglet’s header leveled the game. Following that, the Lilywhites were nervous.

Sead Kolasinac, a former Arsenal player, had a chance to break Tottenham’s hearts before stoppage time, but he headed wide at the back post. Harry Kane then sent Hojbjerg through in the 95th minute to secure victory in France.

Spurs fans will naturally be full of confidence going into the Liverpool game, but Antonio Conte does have a few injury concerns to contend with. football.london has detailed them all below.

Son Heung-min

The South Korean superstar was forced to withdraw in the first-half against Marseille with a head injury and is a doubt for Liverpool.

What Stellini said:After the game, assistant coach Cristian Stellini said that the team is still unsure about the degree of his injuries. “Right now, we don’t know,” he replied. We must wait for a medical evaluation, which will take place tomorrow [Wednesday]. Sonny is feeling better now. I spotted him in the locker room. He joined us in our joy. So we’ll have to wait till tomorrow.”

He also acknowledged that the doctors are unclear if it is a concussion at this point: “We are not sure.” “It’s his face,” he continued. His eye is a little puffy.”

Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski are teammates.
Conte has been missing Kulusevski and Richarlison for some time now, leaving him without two of his most crucial attacking options.

It’s unclear when they’ll return, with Conte saying shortly before the Newcastle defeat that he’s scared Kulusevski won’t be back until after the World Cup. The pair were not present at Tottenham training once again, but they were working on their fitness in the gym while the rest of the squad was outside on the training ground.

Conte stated, “Richarlison and Kulusevski are out because they are recovering but are still not ready.”

Return date(s) expected: November 2022.

Cristian Romero’s

Despite playing against Sporting Lisbon, Romero missed matches against Newcastle and Bournemouth either side of the clash with Marseille. After missing training before the game in France on Wednesday night, he was left out of the squad as he continues his recovery.

What Conte has said: When asked about his fitness before the 3-2 win at Bournemouth, Conte said, “We have taken a big, big risk for this decision. Especially for Cuti, for Romero, because he was really tired and we risked him a lot. But you know for this time of game you have to take risks and the players can gave us their availability to play. Now we have to try to manage very well because he played and was lucky to finish the game but he finished the game with great will and desire.

“For this reason it is right to say thanks to him and Pierre. I think Cuti needed to recover better but Pierre is OK 100%. Cuti is OK but we have another important game on Tuesday and for this reason we try to make the best decision for him.”
