Although the summer transfer market has closed, Leicester City are still free to add new players to their team if they so want.
During the summer transfer window, Enzo Maresca brought in nine new players. As the new manager updated his team, Harry Winks, Conor Coady, Callum Doyle, Mads Hermansen, Stephy Mavididi, Cesare Casadei, Yunus Akgun, Abdul Fatuwu, and Tom Cannon all joined before the September 1 deadline.
While it appears that City’s business is over, they may always turn to the free agency market if an opportunity arises. Agents on the open market can be signed by clubs outside of the transfer window.
The implications of any late arrival on City’s 25-man roster presented to the EFL would be an issue. To make room for any recruits, a veteran player would have to be removed. Only under-21s players, such as deadline day signing Tom Cannon, are exempt.
