After their reunion, Jack Grealish offers a poignant letter to the ‘legends’ of Aston Villa.
BirminghamLive brings you the latest Aston Villa news, including the reunion of Jack Grealish with two of his previous coaches.

Jack Grealish has posted a snapshot that would make every Aston Villa supporter happy.

After the uproar that greeted his £100 million departure to Manchester City, Villa fans have gradually begun to look back fondly on the former captain’s time at Villa Park. It was a memorable period at B6, with Grealish, a lifelong Villa supporter, guiding the team to promotion and Premier League survival on the field.

Dean Smith’s presence in the dugout, who had spent decades following the club as a supporter, added to the fanbase’s connection with the squad. The combination of Smith and Grealish guiding Villa back to the top flight made unforgettable days, such as the play-off final victory, even more memorable.

The local ties did not end there, as Smith carried the concept across his coaching staff. Before ex-Leicester City manager – and fellow fan – Craig Shakespeare came at the club for the 2020-21 season, the former Villa manager was joined by long-time assistant Richard O’Kelly.

Following Man City’s victory over Wolves on Sunday, Grealish tweeted a photo of himself alongside Smith and Shakespeare, writing, “Unreal to have these two legends in my box today!” You’ve done so much for me! Deano and Shakey,” followed by a heart emoji.

Smith was most recently in charge of Norwich City, where he worked alongside Shakespeare as his deputy until his departure last month. Grealish, on the other hand, relished his time with the coaching tandem, contributing 19 goals in 27 appearances during his final season in a Villa shirt.
