Report: A 17-year-old Tottenham attacker has been training with the first team recently, he’s very ‘powerful’
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Will Lankshear has been training with the first team recently, according to Football. London.
The 17-year-old completed a switch to north London from Sheffield United over the summer after boasting a prolific record at youth level.
Lankshear bagged an impressive 40 goals in 50 appearances for the Blades’ U23 and U18 sides after being released by Arsenal last year.
His impressive goal-return earned him a move to Spurs and now it seems that he has been training with Antonio Conte’s side recently.
Lankshear training with Tottenham first-team
Football.London reports that Tottenham’s coaches have been taking a look at Lankshear.
The forward has been training with the club’s stars in recent months and could feature in the upcoming friendlies.
Spurs are set to play behind-closed-doors friendlies over the coming weeks while their biggest stars are at the World Cup.
With Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane and Richarlison all in Qatar, Lankshear may get a chance to impress Conte.
Spurs beat Brentford to the signing of Lankshear over the summer and he’s been described as a ‘powerful’ forward with an eye for goal.
The former Sheffield United teenager has already bagged four goals in as many games for Spurs’ U18 side this season, but is yet to get off the mark for the U21 side in the Premier League 2.
Lankshear will be hoping to benefit from working with Conte over the coming weeks while the majority of Spurs’ first-team players are in Qatar.
Tottenham have benefited from picking up strikers Arsenal have released in the past, with Kane developing into one of the world’s best after leaving the Hale End academy.
It seems unlikely that Lankshear will get a chance in any competitive matches anytime soon but the World Cup break could represent a good chance for the youngster to show Conte what he’s capable of.
