George Pickens: I don’t mix football and social media
This week, the Steelers have been discussing George Pickens, their wide receiver, and his social media and on-field actions.
Pickens removed the phrase “free me” from his Instagram story and momentarily removed all Steelers-related postings from his social media accounts. In addition, he gave off the impression of being irritated during last Thursday’s victory over the Titans, as seen by his response to teammate Diontae Johnson’s touchdown reception.
Pickens discussed these subjects with reporters on Wednesday while speaking from the team’s locker room. Following Johnson’s touchdown, Pickens, who lost a yard on two receptions throughout the game, stated he was “just going back to the sideline” and added that the touchdown “engineered the victory, so I don’t see how I could be
Head coach Mike Tomlin called the Pickens chatter a “pebble in my shoe” by way of minimizing its impact on the team and time will tell if it becomes anything more than that in Pittsburgh.
