A senior from Texas Tech had started 41 straight games going into Saturday night’s Independence Bowl LUBBOCK, Texas – For the second time in as many days, Texas Tech was given good news about a returning senior on Tuesday when offensive lineman Caleb Rogers declared his plan to play for the Red Raiders in his last year of eligibility.

Rogers, who has been a reliable member of the offensive line for the previous four seasons, is anticipated to start for the 42nd time in his career on Saturday when Texas Tech plays in the Radiant Technologies Independence Bowl. His career starts as a Red Raider place him second on the squad, and he is third overall in career starts, behind just two super seniors, defensive lineman Jaylon Hutchings (57) and fellow senior ffensive lineman Cole Spencer (49).

Rogers has played both tackle positions during his Red Raider career, so his return gives offensive coordinator Zach Kittley and offensive line coach Stephen Hamby more flexibility when laying out the future up front.

The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex native Rogers is a native of Mansfield. He has started all 12 games this season at right tackle for the Red Raider offence, which has produced Tahj Brooks, one of the top rushers in the country, who also announced his comeback on Monday.
