Ohio State Falls at No. 9 Maryland, 8-7

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a back-and-forth battle on the road, the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team dropped a one-goal game to No. 9 Maryland Saturday afternoon at SECU Stadium in College Park, Md. The Buckeyes (6-6, 1-2 B1G) fell, 8-7, to the Terrapins (7-3, 2-1 B1G).

The Short Story
Both teams scored twice in the first quarter and once in the second to head to the locker room tied at three at the half. A three-goal third quarter from Maryland gave Maryland its ultimate lead. Despite a three-goal run for Ohio State in the third, the Terrapins came away with the one-goal advantage.

Ohio State’s defense held Maryland to its lowest scoring outing of the year, including a season-low three goals in the first half. Marcus Hudgins caused a team-high three turnovers and led the team with five ground balls in the game. In goal, Caleb Fyock made 11 saves on the day.

On attack, Jack McKenna scored his third hat trick of the season and second in as many games against the Terrapins. He added an assist for four points on the day to lead the Buckeyes. Blake Eiland also recorded a multi-goal game, his third of the year, with two goals on Saturday.
