What does UNC basketball’s current 2024-25 roster look like and what’s next for Tar Heels?

The transfer portal for college basketball closed on Wednesday, so players are no longer able to leave their current school and play right away somewhere else.

Before the May 1 deadline, and after losing to Alabama in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, James Okonkwo and Seth Trimble, players for UNC basketball, entered the transfer portal.

Afterwards, Trimble made the decision to go back to Chapel Hill and remove his name from the portal. Cade Tyson, a transfer from Belmont, is the only player added through the transfer site as of Wednesday.

Summer is coming, and more players might decide to join the Tar Heels as spring ends.

Entering his fourth season as head coach, Hubert Davis currently has three scholarships remaining to fill out the roster. Star guard RJ Davis, who announced his return Wednesday, leads a group that should be among the contenders for the 2025 national championship.
