The Foxes have signed Belgium’s Janice Cayman and Germany’s Lena Petermann
Leicester City Women have bolstered their attacking ranks with the addition of two internationals.
The Foxes have acquired the services of Belgium’s most-capped player, Janice Cayman, from Olympique Lyonnais and Germany striker Lena Petermann from Montpellier. Cayman has won 137 international caps for Belgium and will bring a wealth of elite level experience to the Foxes.
The 34-year-old right-sided player arrives at Belvoir Drive following a glittering spell in France, where she helped Olympique Lyonnais win two UEFA Women’s Champions League titles, three domestic league titles and two domestic cups.
“It’s been a warm welcome and I’m very happy to be here. It’s a new country to play football for me, but maybe one of the biggest countries to play in,” Cayman told LCFC.com.
Petermann, meanwhile, has been capped 25 times by Germany and scored 25 goals in 48 appearances across four seasons with Montpellier.
“It feels really great. I’m really excited to be here, to play and give everything for this club,” the 29-year-old told lcfc.com.
“It’s always been my dream to play in this league – there’s so much quality and now I have this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started.
“Scoring goals is my job and I want to bring everything to the team to help them however I can. I’ve played in various different countries – France, the US – and I hope this experience will benefit everyone.”
Petermann, who has had stints with UCF Knights in the United States and Hamburg, Freiburg and Turbine Potsdam in her home country, joins Leicester as they prepare for a third successive Women’s Super League campaign.
Boss Willie Kirk guided the Foxes to 10th place in the table last season, with the club having been bottom when he replaced Lydia Bedford in November.
