West Ham United in transfer battle with Newcastle and Leeds United for Viktor Gyokeres

West Ham are reportedly battling a number of clubs, including Leeds United and Newcastle to sign Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres.

According to the Record [03 June, page 12], he also tops the wishlist of Portuguese club Sporting CP in the upcoming transfer window.

Premier League interest is also showing no signs of slowing down with Wolves and Crystal Palace also interested in signing him.

Battle heats on

If the Hammers win the Conference League then they can offer European football to Gyokeres next season.

Winning UEFA’s third-tier competition will ensure that they qualify for the group stages of the Europa League.

It’s going to be a summer of rebuilding at the club with Declan Rice leaving and David Moyes too, perhaps being shown the door.

Gyokeres is a talented striker and he’s versatile enough to play out wide as well and still provide a potent goal-scoring threat.

He bagged 21 goals in the league alone this past season and while the Premier League’s an entirely different ball game, he will fancy his chances of being a regular starter at the London Stadium.

Given their financial might and the lure of Champions League football, Newcastle may be a better draw, as things stand, but it remains to be seen if they seriously want to sign the striker.
