West Ham are keen to sign Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson, but could face competition from Everton.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Ham and Everton are set to battle it out for the signing of £40 million rated Nottingham Forest youngster Brennan Johnson in the summer transfer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes will be keen to bolster his attacking midfield ranks with some young and supremely talented players this summer.

What an incredibly exciting signing this one would be for the Hammers. However, it seems as though we won’t have it all our own way in the race for his signature…

West Ham eyeing shock move to sign Brennan Johnson

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Hammers are chasing the 22-year-old’s signature ahead of the summer transfer window, with Forest demanding £40 million.

I would absolutely love Moyes to bring Johnson to the London Stadium, what a brilliant player he is.

Johnson is an incredibly exciting young talent. He is a number 10 by trade but he can also play on either wing. He was recently described as an exceptional talent by former Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton (FLW).

The attacking midfielder was in superb form for Forest last season with 16 goals and nine assists to his name in 46 Championship games (Transfermarkt).

Johnson bagged 10 goals and three assists in 44 games in all competition for Forest this season (Transfermarkt).

He can play pretty much anywhere along the front line and has technical ability, pace and desire in abundance.

If West Ham sign Brennan Johnson for £40 million this summer I think it would be a great deal for the club. Whether we’re able to beat Everton to the 22-year-old’s signature remains to be seen though.
