Leeds United Prepared To Hand Everton And Tottenham Target New Contract
Leeds United are prepared to offer a new contract to Everton and Tottenham Hotspur target Willy Gnonto with favourable clauses if he is reintegrated back into the squad, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Gnonto has effectively gone on strike and refused to play in matches in order to force his way out of Leeds.
While exit clauses allowed several players to leave Leeds on loan this summer following their relegation, the Italy winger has no such provisions in the contract he signed last year.
Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in him and Gnonto is trying to force his way out of Elland Road before the end of the transfer window on 1st September.
The Toffees have been unable to agree a fee for the Italian, while Tottenham could enter the mix as they reshape Ange Postecoglou’s attack.
The winger has been removed from the first team dressing room but the hope is that he will be eventually reintegrated back into the fold.
The Whites are prepared to offer him a new contract with more favourable clauses once he is back in the team.
But for the moment, the standoff continues between Leeds and Gnonto with both sides vehemently sticking to their respective stances.
