Matheus Nunes issues’real reason’ message following Wolves-Man City trade Wolverhampton Wanderers news from BirminghamLive as Matheus Nunes speaks out following his move from Manchester City

Matheus Nunes has written a message to Wolves fans following his £53 million move to Manchester City.

The 25-year-old Portugal international joined City on deadline day after stating his desire to join the English and European champions. He was chastised for not training in the days leading up to the move, but he responded on social media.

“The time has come to say goodbye to the club that gave me the opportunity to play in the best league in the world, and to the club for which I have always had deep admiration and respect,” he added. Thank you to Wolves, the staff, my teammates, and especially the incredible fans for your unwavering and heartfelt enthusiasm and support.

“I really appreciate the meaning of the word commitment, and that was what was always present in my daily attitudes over the course of a year that will live on in my memory forever.” I could go on and on about the true reason for my leave and how it occurred, but all I’ll say is that the fans deserve all of my respect, affection, and deep appreciation.

“Everything happens for a reason, no matter how incomprehensible it may appear at first glance, but the future, I am confident, will clarify it, and at that time, everyone, without exception, will understand the reason for this last troubled week.” Thank you, Wolves fans; you will never be forgotten.”

Nunes joined Wolves from Sporting Lisbon a year ago for £42 million. Wolves spent roughly £30 million for Tommy Doyle, Enso Gonzalez, Santiago Bueno, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde in the final two days of the transfer window.
