Wolves must improve in both boxes, according to Pedro Neto.

Pedro Neto believes Wolves must improve in both areas following their most recent Premier League setback.

Neto’s two assists and strong effort were not matched by his teammates as Wolves were defeated 3-2 at Crystal Palace.

The hosts cruised to win thanks to a lack of inventiveness in the final third and some slack defense, and Neto has cautioned Wolves that they must improve on both ends of the field.

“It was a tough game,” he remarked. It’s usually difficult to play here, but I thought we did well and had control of the game.

“However, we must be more clinical. They were also better at defending than us.

“I believe we have the confidence to get the opportunities.”

“We could have scored more than two goals today, but it’s difficult to come to an away game and score two goals and not win.”

“In the end, they were also clinical. We need to be more proactive in defense, but we controlled the middle of the field.

“They didn’t control the game, but in the important parts, they were better than us.”

Despite his criticism of the defense, Neto admitted that the forwards must do more to assist.

“The forwards are the first defenders, and we have to take care of that,” he continued.

“It occurred in the first half.” We gave them enough time to keep the ball away from us, but in the second half, we were exhausted and needed to be more aggressive.

“Everything takes time, but we worked much better today than in previous games in terms of shape and ball control.” However, they were more clinical than us, which made the difference.”

Only Enso Gonzalez, a late new addition, was included in the squad.

Santi Bueno traveled but did not play, Tommy Doyle is injured, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde signed too late.

“Tommy Doyle has a slight knee issue, but we’re hoping he’ll be available after the international break,” Gary O’Neil said. “Santi is fine, we just need to get him used to what we’re doing and where we are.”

“Bellegarde was not available today because it was completed late, but it will be good to have him in the group for the next two weeks before Liverpool.”

“Hodge had a scan, and we expect him to be three to four weeks from the time of injury – hopefully on the shorter end of that time frame.”
