Tottenham injury update: latest news and return dates for Rodrigo Bentancur, Tanguy Ndombele, and Bryan Gil
Tottenham begin the new season with a number of first-team players injured.
Long-term troubles continue to plague Rodrigo Bentancur and Bryan Gil, the latter of whom had an operation this summer to address a problematic issue.
Ryan Sessegnon, Fraser Forster, and Tanguy Ndombele have also had issues, however Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has disclosed the French midfielder is now suffering with his fitness after recovering from an injury. Young players Troy Parrott and Alfie Whiteman are unavailable as the 2023-24 Premier League season approaches.
Sergio Reguilon also had a knock late in the preseason loss to Barcelona, which has yet to be confirmed. Yves Bissouma returned from a slight injury to kick off the game in Spain.
Here is the most recent Tottenham injury and return date update…
Rodrigo Bentancur is a Spanish actor.
Spurs midfielder Bentancur stated earlier this summer that he would be out for “two to three months” due to a significant knee injury, which might mean a comeback by the end of August at the very least.
The Uruguayan needed surgery after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a game against Leicester in February.
“It’s been a long injury, one of the most difficult in football, but the truth is that I’m having such a good time with my family,” Bentancur stated in June. “I do double shifts two or three times a week and train the same way every day.”
“I brought the physiotherapist from the club to Uruguay.” We keep working, and my knee is going great. I didn’t set a lap time, but I’m hoping to gain a few minutes in two or three months.”
Tanguy Ndombele’s
After leaving Ndombele out of Spurs’ defeat to Barcelona, Postecoglou cast doubt on his future.
Following an injury earlier this summer, the Frenchman is still not “physically” ready to play under the Australian coach.
“They’re a little bit physically behind the rest,” he says of Ndombele and Leeds-bound defender Joe Rodon, according to football.london. “One aspect of the way we play that I need to be strong on is that you have to be at a certain physical level to play this type of football.”
