Cristian Romero is a doubt for Argentina’s forthcoming match against Bolivia, according to Maundo Bocaradio reporter Luis Fregossi, who suffered a knee injury in the 1-0 win against Ecuador.

Romero was the star of the show for the Albiceleste in their triumph over Ecuador on Saturday, putting in a customary battling performance to keep Ecuador at bay.

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni praised the Tottenham defender’s performance, even comparing him to ‘He-Man’ (D-Sports).

Cristian Romero is out with an injury while representing Argentina.
However, it appears that the 25-year-old’s performance came at a cost, as it has now been revealed that he suffered an injury during the match.

Fregossi has resorted to social media to report that Romero had a knee injury against Ecuador (“a contracture in the rectus posterior of his right leg”), which may prohibit him from going to Bolivia for Tuesday’s match.

The nature of the injury is unknown, according to the journalist, and it will be assessed today before a decision is made on whether the centre-back should return to Tottenham.

Postecoglou is in a nightmarish situation with Romero out injured, since he is short on choices at centre-back. Tottenham are concerned because the 25-year-old is the type of player who may play through a slight injury for Argentina, risking further damage.
