Andy Gray gives his opinion on Everton, with Sean Dyche supported to keep the Toffees in the Premier League.
Andy Gray believes Everton will be relegated from the Premier League, but thinks Sean Dyche is the best man for the job at Goodison Park.

The Toffees are presently 18th in the Premier League, just one place above newly promoted Luton Town and Burnley, who have both played one game fewer than Dyche’s side and have only scored two goals in their first four games.

Everton did strengthen their forward line during the summer window, bringing in Beto with the expectation that the Portuguese forward would deliver the goals needed to keep the Toffees in the Premier League. Gray, a former Goodison Park forward, isn’t persuaded Dyche’s squad will have enough.

In an interview with the Daily Mail on September 10, he said, “I’m devastated, distraught, whatever adjective you want to use.” Everton is suffering the price for years of incompetence. They’ve been circling the drain for three years, and I’m afraid about them again this season.

“This is the most difficult challenge Sean has ever faced as a manager, including keeping Burnley in the Premier League.” Graham Potter is a topic of conversation. Do me a favor and tell me what he could do better than Sean with the present roster.”

Anyone associated with Everton does not appear to want Dyche to leave so early in the season, as it is evident the former Burnley manager’s hands are tied at Goodison Park in terms of adding quality to his team.

Gray is a supporter of Dyche’s old-school methods at Everton; after all, he and Richard Keys were the two commentators who claimed Frank Lampard would be a better match for Chelsea than Julian Naglesmann, so his dismissal of Potter should come as no surprise.

The former Chelsea and Brighton manager is a fantastic football manager. Despite his failure at Stamford Bridge, he has shown to be a Premier League success, but he is not what Everton require at this time, as they appear to be on the verge of relegation.

Everton do not need to perform particularly well. What they do need to do is find a way to stay in the Premier League, and if there is one manager who has done so before with low resources, it is Sean Dyche at Burnley.

Hopefully, the Toffees will have enough points to avoid relegation because their performances this season have deserved more points than they’ve already achieved, and Gray’s concerns will not come true.

In other Everton news, there has been an update on some fans’ concerns about administration at Goodison Park.
