Nottingham Forest-linked midfielder Tyler Adams is now likely to leave Leeds United during the summer transfer window. The American suffered relegation during his maiden campaign in English football and will now be on the move.

The Reds aren’t the only club who are keen to take advantage of the current situation at Leeds. Aston Villa and Liverpool have also been linked with a move in recent weeks and they might hold the aces.

According to the Independent, the Whites think they might be fighting a losing battle trying to keep hold of Adams. As a result, he is one of their star players who they feel they could be forced to cash in on.

The 24-year-old was integral to the team’s fortunes last season. Adams missed the final 12 games of the 2022/23 campaign and had he stayed fit, Leeds might have staved off the threat of relegation.

It was actually Jesse Marsch who chose to sign Adams last summer. He checked in from RB Leipzig and after a win over Liverpool at Anfield, the American head coach called him ‘very important’ to his team’s fortunes.

Adams has a contract until 2027 at Elland Road. He also earns £57,000-a-week so any club that does take him this summer might have to be prepared to make a sizeable offer to the player.

Forest-linked Adams now likely to leave Leeds this summer

This would be a hammer blow to Leeds. However, given that they will play in the Championship next season, it’s not going to come as a huge shock to them that Adams will likely want to leave.

Forest are in the mix to try and sign him this summer. The player was one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League during 2022/23 and Leeds will have hoped to see more of him.

Adams isn’t expected to miss any of pre-season and he’d still represent a pretty decent addition. If Forest can snare the likes of Villa and Liverpool it would send out quite a statement to the rest of the division.

This latest report does offer some hope for the Reds this summer. It would appear that Leeds are resigned to the fact that their star player will leave and an auction could now take place between the interested parties.
