Sean Dyche says if Everton will sign free agents amid links with West Ham favourite

Everton can still sign free agents despite the summer transfer window closing.

Sean Dyche has admitted he does not envisage Everton dipping into the free agent market.

The Toffees signed five players in the summer transfer window – with one of them Ashley Young on a free transfer following his departure from Aston Villa. However, Everton experienced a low-key transfer deadline day in terms of incomings although Alex Iwobi, Neal Maupay and Tom Cannon all left the club. Meanwhile, Demarai Gray departed to join El-Ettifaq ahead of the Suadi Pro League’s window closing.

Everton have been linked to Portuguese midfielder Xeka along with former Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard after he departed Nottingham Forest. Lingard has been training with West Ham. While Dyche says that Everton will continue to survery who is available, any potential moves are unlikely.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Arsenal, he said: “It is rare at this stage that you get one who have been missed for odd reasons. Usually by this stage the market has found situations for players, where they are at.

“But we will certainly keep an eye on the list of players and see if there is any one who can sort us, which we have already done, of course, but we will keep doing that.”

Bill Kenwright talks claim made as Everton behind-the-scenes overhaul on the cards

Bill Kenwright is set for talks with 777 Partners once the deal is completed to seal a full takeover of Everton, according to the Telegraph.

The English newspaper reported on its website on Friday (15 September) that a boardroom overhaul is high on the agenda at Goodison Park.

Kenwright has been in his role as chairman for the past 19 years and remains an unpopular figure among fans.

Needs to go

Everton have been in all sorts of trouble over the last few years and Kenwright has been front and centre of it.

Rather than forcing Farhad Moshiri’s hand and ensuring he makes the right decisions, he became part of the problem.

The club are not going to progress with Kenwright at the helm and along with Moshiri he’s got to walk away as well.

Hopefully, the deal goes through soon and then talks are held between 777 and the chairman and he can then be on his way.

Keeping him makes no difference and he’s got to be shown the door as soon as possible.

It remains to be seen who comes in to replace Kenwright as this is an important role that needs to be filled.
